Contemporary Maori artists such as Bob Jahnke, Shane Cotton, John Bevan-Ford and Kura Te Waru Rewiri reside in Manawatu. They have all contributed to Te Putahi a Toi, a centre of excellence for Maori visual arts at Massey University. Already a new generation of artist is building upon their work with Saffron Te Ratana and Ngatai Taepa gaining attention for their work.
